first time i played rdr2 i found it boring but continued played because i was invested in story so i just did story missions only. then there was a second playthrough then 3rd just cant get enough i guess

Hey, I downloaded the temperature and humidity overhaul mod, but it added this prompt to "relax" by pressing down on the d-pad. Whenever I press it nothing happens, and it never goes away, meaning I don't get a prompt to interact with anything else. If anyone has a fix for this, please let me know, because I really want to use this mod but not being able to interact with anything else means I can't. If I find a fix I'll edit this comment so anyone else who has this problem can find a solution.

I bought a steam deck just to RDR2 last month

100% agree - and I grew up playing Daggerfall. Maybe I'm just noncomformist though cuz as excited as I was for Morrowind's release, I kinda fell out of love with it as soon as I realized all my friends had it on Xbox. Not like in a "PC Gamer elitist" way, but like when my friend wants to show me - "Look you can attack ANY npc" and plays the game like GTA - I just feel like something gets lost in translation. Like yeah sure - you CAN do that. Is that an amazing feature anymore? Plus the clunky combat always killed it for me. Sure you're sniping guards from the roof with arrows, but the dice roll checks mean you arrows didn't hit what you visually saw them hit. And then Bethesda's response to stuff like this was to basically just strip away ALL of the RPG elements bit by bit, which was not what I wanted at all. anyway I haven't really cared about anything they've developed for years - they still publish some good titles, but those are always developed by other companies (ID, Arkane, etc.)

The presentation at E3 of Fallout 76 was the most awkward and sad debut of game I have ever seen. The abject disappoint and downright fear on the face of everyone there was palpable. One of these days I just want a Dev to answer a question like 'Why didn't you optimize your game for PC or what ever?' For the Dev to say 'F^$& You that's why.'

I've never related to a video more. when I first played Breath of the Wild I couldn't get into the weapon breaking mechanic. Finally returned to it years later on the PC with some mods and I now know what everyone was raving about. sometimes we need to play the games how we want to play them!

The phrase that always comes to mind with FromSoft is "iterative design". They are really, really good at identifying what works about a game and what doesn't work, and going into the next project with an eye towards improving their strengths and repairing or replacing their weaknesses. It really makes their design feel so much more cohesive, while also making every new game feel like a significant improvement on the last.

How many people here after getting RDR2 on sale from Steam and want to be inspired for mods?

There's a quest early on in the game where you join the UC and they tell you to check out a planet that went dark. Now, I ignored this quest for nearly 70 levels and eventually decided I was gonna give it a try. I suppose this quest existed to introduce the "Terrormorph", which is this games Deathclaw equivalent. I found the beginning of the quest very entertaining, as it built a tense horror-like atmosphere and introduced you to the sole surviving colony member who explained how terrifyingly deadly these Terrormorphs were, and how your only chance to beat it was to sneak around the colony and establish kill boxes by activating generators to turn on the auto turrets. If I was a newbie level 5 this quest would have been awesome. At this point in the game I had already killed more than 20 Terrormorphs on other planets. So I marched out there with my advanced shotgun, shot it 3 times and it was over. Every NPC afterward expressed shock and awe that I somehow managed the impossible and killed a Terrormorph. I gave up on Starfield not long after.

I really appreciate this take Nakey Jakey and I’m really late to the conversation but I think Naughty Dog nailed TLOU Part II and satisfied my goblin stupid brain a ton. Just off the top of my head, I can name more exhilarating set pieces such as the descent of the hotel, walking through the high buildings, the Rat King, the burning island for Christ’s sake, that no other AAA game has really succeeded in capturing as brilliantly as Naughty Dog did with this. I understand the complaints but I felt that the dual narrative was told in the only way it could’ve worked.
